my jail

Thank you everyone (and especially BALBOA!!!) for your support with the Chuck-a-Duck. Mean Sister Fig lost interest in it, so it is now MINE - the way it's supposed to be! I also have more good news! My cousin Coco has a blog! She a very cute little girl who has a little tiny crush on me, I think. She's waiting to be "approved" as an official DWB'er, but you can check her out now! Fig is not allowed to play with her when we're together, so she is ALL MINE! A fluffy toy all for me!

She found the most interesting present in her grass last night... evidently it tasted pretty yummy before she was dragged away.

Anyway, I have not had the best week or so. I was sick and then Fig stole my toy, so I decided to do something to make myself feel better. I've noticed Fig's jail is decorated with pictures of her and her boyfriend, Balboa (click here to see more). She stares at him all day long and day-dreams about him to pass the time.

I have nothing to stare at, so this weekend I spent a large amount of my time drawing pictures to put up around my jail! Look at all I made! This is food, one of my favorite things, and that makes me happy to look at all day. Next to the food is LOLA! She has a mean sibling too! She said we should start a support group. I don't know what a support group is, but if it involves eating and/or getting back at Mean Sister Fig, then count me in!
I also drew more of my friends, Luckie and Lorenza. They're both little Doxies and I think they're kinda cute. *blush* And that's Massah next to them. You can tell it's her by the disturbingly large forehead.

I also made pictures of some poo, because I LOVE to eat poo, and also Sophie because I think she might be the prettiest doggie in the world. I had a difficult time capturing her beauty with my markers and no opposable thumbs, but I tried my best.

I put them all up beside my jail so I can look at them all day long! They might not be quite as nice as Fig's pictures, but mine are pretty special too, because I made them myself.

And if you're wondering why we have carpet on that little wall, WE ARE WONDERING THAT SAME THING. Massah says it's very gross and she can't figure out how to clean it very well, but I helped cover it up with my pictures. I think she was very thankful.

hrmph

I have been severely neglected. Maybe even bordering on abuse. Massah has been OUT OF TOWN and GONE a lot and TOO BUSY to help me blog. That's just unacceptable. AND - on top of that - Mean Sister Fig is being... well, just... MEAN. *sigh*

She got a present from her boyfriend Balboa. Yes, that's nice. But what's even nicer is that he sent me a present in the box too! He sent me a Chuck-A-Duck! And it was perfect timing, because look at my old one!

That all sounds like GREAT news, right?! WELL. It would be, if I weren't living with the meanest things in the world: Fig. Here is a picture of Massah giving me MY present. And look who swooped in and STOLE IT FROM ME at the last second.

Yes, that's right. Mean Sister Fig. I was even SICK, too! If you want to see what else Balboa sent her, click here. Otherwise, leave me a poop and tell me how unfair my life is....

sleepy

Well I am well on my way to recovery with my angry pancreas. Massah was very excited about my poo this morning. It's kinda embarrassing but... whatever makes her happy! Going to the family's house always makes me tired though. I like to sleep in the car.

And after playing and playing, I fall asleep.

DSC01464

Sometimes I'm so tired that I just contort into odd positions and fall asleep. My ear's even inside-out!

DSC01462

People think I look weird.

But I'm just tired. I'm catching up today, and tomorrow I'll be full of energy again!

it's happier!

I'm stealing the computer at my family's house so this will be short, but I wanted to update everyone on my angry pancreas. Thank you everyone who send happy pancreas thoughts my way, because it worked - it is much happier than it was! I still don't know what I did to make it upset, but I said I was sorry and it accepted my apology. I did have to go to the vet'narin, though. And just like Mean Sister Fig said they would, they stole some of my blood. I made it quite difficult for them, and squirmed and wiggled my way through almost everyone there before they finally called in the doctor himself to hold me down. Fig should be pretty proud of me for that! In the process I got quite a nice battle scar. It's actually just a bruise, but it keeps getting bigger and bigger as time goes by, so I'm hoping maybe it will take over my whole body withing the next couple days and Massah will give me lots and lots of treats because she feels so bad for me. You can see it on my neck here:

A couple embarrassing things happened while I was at the vet'narin.... First of all, when I walked in the door, they said "There's Tadpole with his diarrhea!" Now granted, there was no one else in the waiting room at the time, but STILL! For one thing - there might have been a cute little doxie like Luckie or Lorenza there and that would have severely hurt my masculine ego, and secondly - I am known as "Tad with the diarrhea" at my vet'narin?! Good grief, I don't get it THAT much! That's just humiliating. The second little embarrassment involved the waiting room, my mad pancreas, and the inability to hold it in. While Massah was handing over her life savings and we were getting ready to leave... I just couldn't help myself and made some watery poopy right there on the floor in front of everyone. Massah was very embarrassed. And I was too. Come to think of it, that might be why I'm known as "Tadpole with the diarrhea" there....

We're now at the family's house and I'm sticking close to Massah. Smothering her nose and mouth with my neck and body always makes me feel better. I won't be able to update till Tuesday, so I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weeked!

:-(

Sorry I didn't write yesterday - I'm not feeling well and that makes me sad. My pancreas is acting up again (maybe from eating a pack of graham crackers that I found and just couldn't resist...) and I think I might have to go to the vet'narin pretty soon. I made poopy on the floor last night more than once, and while I didn't get in trouble for it, I still feel bad. I don't like my pancreas when it gets upset like this. It should be happy - not mad!

I heard Sam from the Brat Pack might be having trouble with hers too.... Maybe I'm having a sympathy pancreatitis attack...? I need to figure out how to make our pancreases happy again. Hang in there, Sam - I'll let you know if I figure anything out!

cresties!

Ahem. I don't really know how to respond to that horribly invasive video that Massah put on my blog yesterday. There should be a law against that. But since there's not (the ASPCA should get on that right away), I'm going to pretend that it didn't happen and just hope that it all goes away.

Moving on. I've been tagged to share 8 things about myself! I shared 10 things a while ago, so I'm going to switch it up and share 8 things about myself as a Crestie, since I'm the only hairless on DWB and I'm feeling very informative today! These are all things unique to hairless Chinese Cresteds....

1. I don't pant. Ever. I sweat through my skin like the people. That's part of the reason I have to take so many baths.

2. There are two kinds of Chinese Cresteds - and they are born in the same litters - my kind, the hairless:

And the powder puff:

My dog-mom was a puff and my dog-dad was hairless. Every puff (and each hairless) has a hairless gene, but if the dog gets TWO hairless genes he will die. I don't know why, but it sounds sad.

3. We are very good climbers, and our front paws are compared to people hands a lot. They are really flexible and we can hold things VERY tightly. When Massah carries me upstairs (and down) I grab on to her neck and wrap my paws around it and hold on tight. And when I chew on toys I hold on to them with a very firm grasp.

4. Hairless have hair on the feet - called socks - on our tails - called plumes - and on our heads - called crests. Hence the name Chinese Crested.

5. The "Chinese" part of our name is a little misleading. From what everyone can tell, we originated in Africa - as bedwarmers, of all things! (Massah calls me her own personal, portable radiator!) We were then taken on ships to catch rats and made our way to China where we were bred to develope most of our unique characteristics.

6. Most Cresties have ears that stand up straight. Massah didn't want to tape my ears when she first got me because I wasn't in very good shape, and then she didn't have the heart to attach tampons to the inside of my ears when I got older, so I have floppy ears.

7. I've never gone more than 7 days without a bath. We're rather high-maintenance. If we don't get regular baths (I usually get mine of Mondays and Thursdays) then our skin will get really dry, we might start to smell musty (cause we sweat through our skin), we get acne, and our skin looks really gray and dull.

8. I'm in the Toy Catagory in the AKC but you never see us in dog shows. We're there! But they always take a commercial break when they show the Cresties. I don't know why. It makes me sad.

9. And last but not least, we're LAP DOGS! I love sitting on people's laps; it's one of my favoritest things ever. Cresties are NOT the kind of dog to get if you want to run with your dog or do lots of vigorous activities (like hiking) because we're pretty fragile and can get hurt easily, but if you want someone who will want to be by your side 24 hours a day, and sitting in your lap if at all possible, a Crestie is right for you! We're lovers. :-)

my blog (by Massah)

I got tagged to share about WHY I started blogging! But I just did it because Massah suggested it! I don't know why! But I'll let her tell you why she thought of it in the first place....

Tad is a unique little dog. And by "unique" I mean odd-looking to most people. When I first got him, he was in horrible shape (physically), smelled disgusting (from the food he was eating) and had infections all over his skin (he's allergic to flea bites and was COVERED in fleas). In addition to all that, his previous owner shaved his already infected skin and made it even more raw and painful-looking. In short, he looked truly awful. Everyone who saw him - or saw pictures of him - thought he was the ugliest thing they ever laid eyes on. And that broke my heart. Yes, I know - he didn't know or care what they thought and said about him, but it made ME feel bad for him! He honestly is the sweetest little boy ever, and I wanted a place for him to share about his adventures and not be judged by the way he looks. :~) So as much fun as he's having with this blog, it's more than that for me. I appreciate everyone who is his friend, who experiences his life with him through the blog, and who doesn't let his naked little body taint their view of him. So THANK YOU! He's a blast to live with, and we both hope you enjoy reading about his continuing life with his Mean Sister Fig.... And since I have the blog, here's a video of what Tad does when he's done pooping. He's slightly effeminate, if you ask me, but he claims it's a very masculine adaptation of the "cover-up scratch" that all the other normal dogs do. You be the judge:
